Fatih Karagümrük SK never looked like they would give in easily against Eyüpspor and edged the contest by a single goal. For the home side, Carlos Smith’s finishing, set up by Cardoso Varela, proved to be the decisive moment.
Eyüpspor had more of the ball and produced more shots, but that superiority never showed on the scoreboard. Fatih Karagümrük SK stayed compact without the ball and repeatedly met the opposition’s attacks just outside the penalty area. Eyüp Ramazan Alyaprak’s three saves to keep a clean sheet also helped strengthen the home side’s resistance.
With this result, Fatih Karagümrük SK moved on to 16 points, while Eyüpspor dropped from 5th to 6th. For Karagümrük, the win was a welcome boost after a run of inconsistent performances in recent weeks, while Eyüpspor were left to rue an evening when they could not turn their productivity into goals.
One of the standout names of the match was Rafa Rozini, who caught the eye with his physical defending and timely interventions to keep his side organised. Carlos Smith, meanwhile, took one of the few chances that came his way and ended up deciding the night.
