Late Trabzonspor goals sink Kayserispor

The contest between Trabzonspor and Kayserispor stayed in the balance right up to the final whistle. The claret-and-blue side turned the control they established in the first half into goals, while Kayserispor stayed in the game and refused to give in. But when it mattered most, Trabzonspor were the sharper side.

Kadir Gunduz and Onur Yalin Sonaer were the standout names in the home side’s goals. Sonaer not only found the net, but also added an assist to put himself at the heart of the attack. Emre Eymur’s goal kept Kayserispor alive, but their response was not enough to earn a point.

The stats also underlined just how tight the match was. Trabzonspor managed 9 shots, while Kayserispor had 8; however, the visitors’ goalkeeper made 7 saves to stop the gap from widening earlier. Trabzonspor also held their own defensively with 9 tackles and, especially through the middle, knew how to break up play.

With this result, Trabzonspor moved up from 9th to 8th place. Kayserispor, meanwhile, finished the week in 12th and missed the chance to open up some breathing room above the lower reaches of the table.
