At the opening of the TEFL season, Samsunspor controlled large spells against Kayserispor and came away with a 1-0 win. The Black Sea side did not produce a huge amount going forward, but they kept their defensive shape and got through the first week unscathed.
The decisive moment came when Arda Ayaz found the net for Samsunspor. Eray Üreten created the chance for the hosts, with the move directly reflected on the scoreboard, while Arda Ayaz delivered a performance strong enough to earn the man-of-the-match nod. Samsunspor goalkeeper Emre Yüksel also made four saves to shut down Kayserispor’s attempts at a comeback.
Kayserispor, meanwhile, failed to find a breakthrough despite five shots on goal. The visitors struggled to get past Samsunspor’s defence and, although they turned up the pressure in the closing stages, they could not alter the scoreline. The home side collected all three points from their first fixture of the season.
