In TEFL Week 13, Samsunspor came from behind to beat Gençlerbirliği 2-1, picking up an important win both for morale and in the standings. The visitors kept the game level for long spells, but Samsunspor’s persistence after the break turned the match around.
For the red-and-whites, Arda Ayaz and Egehan Gümüşoğlu found the net, while Ali Usta was also one of the key creative forces with an assist. Gümüşoğlu’s goal-and-assist contribution was the main factor in turning Samsunspor’s pressure into a tangible result. At the back, Atakan Yılmaz’s strong rating helped the team stay on their feet in the decisive moments.
Tolga Aydın’s goal for Gençlerbirliği kept their hopes of staying in the contest alive. But away from home, they could not provide enough of a response when Samsunspor stepped up the pressure and started getting into the box more often. The shot counts were not far apart, but the home side’s sharper finishing made the difference.
With this win, Samsunspor climbed from fifth to third and strengthened their push towards the top end of the table. Gençlerbirliği, meanwhile, dropped from eighth to 11th.
