The one-goal margin kept the outcome in doubt until the final whistle, but Kocaelispor had the last laugh at the end of Week 2. A 2-1 win gave them victory in their second match of the season, taking them to six points and moving them from third place to the top of the table. İstanbulspor, meanwhile, followed up their opening-week draw with a defeat.
Onur Balaban scored for the hosts, while Bryan Toffin and Roman Şeker found the net for Kocaelispor. Burak Kaya assisted İstanbulspor’s goal and also stood out with five tackles, earning the match’s MVP award. His efforts, however, were not enough to secure a point for İstanbulspor.
Kocaelispor’s attacking edge was reflected in the shot count: the visitors had eight attempts to İstanbulspor’s three. Even so, five saves from the home goalkeeper kept the scoreline from getting away from them. Kocaelispor’s two wins from two extended their strong start, while İstanbulspor slipped to 16th with one point. In a closely fought match, Kocaelispor made the difference by creating more chances and scoring through two different players.
