The countdown to EA SPORTS FC 27 has begun
With the release of EA SPORTS FC 27 drawing closer, Electronic Arts continues to share key details about the new season through its official channels. The game will launch worldwide on 25 September 2026. Players who purchase the Ultimate or Ultimate Plus editions will receive up to seven days of early access from 18 September 2026.
FC 27 will be available on the EA app, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, The Grounds and the Clubs mode at the heart of this world will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. EA will also launch a free FC 27 Lite preview featuring selected modes on release day.
Clubs expands with The Grounds
The biggest change to Clubs in FC 27 will see the mode become part of a social football world called The Grounds. According to EA, The Grounds is built around the Terrace and three distinct areas inspired by football cultures from around the world. Players will be able to meet up with friends, visit their club headquarters and jump straight into a variety of experiences.
The Clubs Stadium and Clubhouse will take shape around each club’s identity and the customisations made by its players. Leagues and Playoffs will return, while Clubs Live Tournaments will expand the competitive structure. These tournaments can feature different numbers of rounds, match rules and rewards. Special rules such as Mystery Ball, King of the Pitch, No Rules, Headers and Volleys, Survival and Long Distance can also be used in tournaments.
A new progression system and club objectives
EA SPORTS FC 27 will also change how Clubs players develop their Pros. All Archetypes will be unlocked from the start, and resetting an Archetype will no longer require Tokens or a separate consumable item. Players will also be able to change individual attributes instead of rebuilding their entire loadout, with these adjustments available directly from Clubs lobbies.
Masteries will ensure that progression across different Archetypes provides lasting benefits. Players who reach certain levels will unlock attribute boosts that can be applied to all of their loadouts. Enhancements, meanwhile, will add temporary advantages to the active Archetype. These rewards can be earned through Clubs and The Grounds objectives, live events, campaigns and seasonal progression.
The new Club Objectives will focus on progression achieved together with teammates. Some targets will require players to win a set number of League matches, while others will track the club’s overall performance across different experiences. Club milestones, weekly and seasonal objectives, and Elite objectives will offer rewards such as Fans, Enhancements, Materials and Tokens.
More ways to play in The Grounds
Alongside Clubs, The Grounds will host 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and Rush matches. In addition to short three-minute games, players will have access to free-play options such as Bocce Ball, Team Keep Away, Big Race, Attacking Scenarios, Hoops Goal, Balloon Ball and Goal Control.
EA says The Grounds world will evolve over time through new seasons, campaigns and live updates. These updates may introduce new events, rewards, store items and game modes. The aim is to ensure that the FC 27 Clubs experience is not limited to traditional Leagues and Playoffs.
Additional content by edition
The Standard Edition will provide access to all of the game’s core modes. Players who pre-order will receive various bonuses for Career Mode and The Grounds. The Ultimate Edition will include early access, the Season One Premium Pass, FC Points and cosmetic content for use in Clubs and The Grounds. Alongside even more Premium Passes and FC Points, the Ultimate Plus Edition will offer additional pre-order rewards aimed particularly at Football Ultimate Team players.
